Two original sofubi monsters from independent artist maitoystudio (怪兽学者). Grape's pebbled vinyl has colors mixed into the material by hand, with glow pigment that gives off a red glow after UV charging; the Nomad rides him via magnets in the knees.

Why it made the shelf

  • Three colors hand-mixed into the vinyl for a polished-stone look
  • Glow pigment and glitter worked into the material
  • Grape: 8 pieces, 7 points of articulation
  • Nomad: magnetic knees for riding; burgundy cape and translucent green energy pistol

Worth knowing

  • Simple joints — less flexible than typical action figures; the appeal is the character and world

In the box (as shown in the review)

  • Grape (mount)
  • Nomad
  • Burgundy cape
  • Energy pistol (translucent green)
  • Waterproof bag with Nomad silhouette

Articulation

Grape: head, neck, arms, legs, tail. Nomad: head, arms, waist, feet, plus wrists.

Malco's verdict

“A fresh kind of toy experience — a direct connection to the creator's imagination.”
